The Harold Pinter Theatre, formerly known as the Comedy Theatre, is a West End theatre that first opened as the Royal Comedy Theatre on Panton Street in the City of Westminster on 15 October 1881. It was conceived by Thomas Verity and constructed of painted (stucco) stone and brick in just six months. It was popularly known as the Comedy Theatre by 1884.
