Through The Mill Prize Winner, Animal is a poignant story centred around the life of David. Physically disabled, yet with a thirst to explore the world and his own sexuality, David navigates the waters of life looking to fulfil all his heart’s desires. Though completely dependent on 24/7 care, he isn’t deterred to embark on this path to sexual freedom. The show was created by Jon Bradfield, co-author of the critically acclaimed series of queer adult pantomimes produced by Above The Stag Theatre, which includes Missing Alice for the BBC and Josh Hepple, activist and journalist.

Park Theatre is the vision of Artistic Director Jez Bond and Creative Director Melli Marie who managed to raise sufficient funding to transform the concrete building into a thriving new theatre venue, gathering support from the theatre community. The structure, constructed by David Hughes Architects for £2.6 million, opened in May 2013. With around 200 seats in-house, the theatre aims to drive forward inclusive storytelling.
