Eddi Reader, a phenomenal vocalist who plays with her onstage Country and Western band comprising Sean Green on piano/MD, Meelie Traill on upright bass, Julian Jackson on chromatic harmonica, and BJ Cole on pedal steel guitar, performs original music by Dan Gillespie Sells for the play Brokeback Mountain.
Storyline
A story of love, loss, and societal constraints, Brokeback Mountain follows Jack and Ennis, two young men who live in conservative, small-town communities in abject poverty. When they accept jobs on the remote Brokeback Mountain, an intimate bond develops between them. But soon, they have to face the cold hard reality of society and the catastrophic repercussions of their forbidden love as they traverse the difficult spaces that lie within their psyches – the new and surprising attachment that forms within their souls. The interior includes the 'hug' or curving auditorium, which may be set up in different ways for each play.
