Storyline

Four Quartets is one of the best works of T.S. Eliot that also played a role in the poet winning the Nobel Prize for literature. With these four poems, Eliot wished to bring serious concerns to the stage. The poems talk about life and death, beginnings and end, including the poet’s original trauma.

Burnt Norton talks about time and how the present is only what matters as the past cannot be changed and the future is uncertain. East Coker focuses on life and death and how it is a cycle. The Dry Salvages talked about a connection with mankind and how one can experience eternity by a few moments of revelation. Little Gidding also focuses on time and humanity and how Eliot helped the world as a poet.

Since Eliot was a fire warden during World War II while writing the poems, you can see glimpses of his emotional state in his works.
