From the award-winning duo of director Jack O’Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell, comes the long-standing musical that we all know and love. Based on the original book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan, Hairspray is set to return to the West End stage for a 14-week run this summer.
Michael Ball stars as Edna Turnblad, a role that won him an Olivier Award for Best Actor. The West End Production has collectively been nominated for a staggering 11 Olivier Awards, bagging 3 of them!
Set to join Michael Ball are Lizzie Bae, Marisha Wallace, Les Dennis, Rita Simons, and Jonny Amies, with lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman. Grab your spot and don’t miss out on the fun!
Based on the 1988 film, the story is set in Baltimore in the year 1962 and follows Tracy Turnblad, an aspiring dancer trying to make it big. Tracy is a big girl with a big hairdo and big dreams. She auditions for the local TV show, The Corny Collins Show, and ends up becoming an overnight sensation.
Will she manage to win over teen heartthrob Link Larkin and bring everyone together? If she wants changes to happen, she’s going to have to ‘shake things up!' Enjoy this inspirational, fun-loving musical that will leave you feeling great.
Note: Producers can not guarantee the appearance of any particular artist, which is always subject to illness and holidays.
