The date for the 2025 Olivier Awards has been set!
A breath of British theater magic is wafting into 2025: the Laurence Olivier Awards have been announced by the Society of London Theatre!
The Olivier Awards 2025 are set to be held in the longstanding venue of the Royal Albert Hall on April 6, 2025. The Awards are recognised internationally as the highest honor in British theater, on par with Broadway’s Tony Awards and France's Molière Award. The Society of London Theatre has been in charge of the Oliviers since 1976.
Prominent winners from 2024 included Succession star, Sarah Snook as the Best Actress for her performance in The Picture of Dorian Gray. Nicole Scherzinger also won the well-deserved Olivier for Best Actress in a Musical for her acclaimed performance in Sunset Boulevard. Vanya won Best Revival, directed by Sam Yates and starring Fleabag’s Andrew Scott.
The 2024 awards honored many new productions, including Dear England (Best New Play) and Operation Mincemeat (Best New Musical). The much-anticipated stage adaptation of Stranger Things: The First Shadow also won Best New Entertainment or Comedy Play.
Nominations for the 2025 edition of the Olivier awards are upcoming. Look forward to a tough tussle of theater talents, with nominees to be announced in March, 2025. No host has been announced yet, but Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham has been hosting the awards from 2023.
