Fans of the cult classic Cruel Intentions will have a chance to relive the drama of the 90s with its musical adaptation coming to the UK. After its success at the Edinburgh Fringe and Broadway, Cruel Intentions: The 90s Musical will premiere at the Other Palace, running from 11 January through 14 April 2024. The musical will feature a cast of West End stars and a soundtrack of hit songs from the decade.

The musical is based on the 1999 film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair, inspired by the French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses. The story follows two step-siblings, Kathryn Merteuil and Sebastian Valmont, who are fuelled by passion and revenge as they scheme to ruin the reputation of an innocent girl, Annette Hargrove.

The musical version of Cruel Intentions was created by Jordan Ross, Lindsey Rosin and Roger Kumble, who also wrote and directed the film. It debuted off-Broadway in 2017 and has since toured across the US. The show features songs by artists such as Boyz II Men, Christina Aguilera, REM, *NSYNC, and Britney Spears, who famously appeared in a cameo role in the film.
