Dylan Wood and Madeline Charlemagne to lead West End's Hadestown
New cast members are here to enchant West End audiences in the Tony-winning Hadestown musical. Madeline Charlemagne and Dylan Wood are set to take center stage at the Lyric Theatre, as the new leads of the Tony-winning Hadestown musical. They will play Eurydice and Orpheus, starting August 27, 2024.
All eyes are on Hadestown as they announce the casting of Madeline Charlemagne as Eurydice and Dylan Wood as Orpheus. Wood will be taking over from beloved lead Donal Finn in his portrayal of Orpheus' (maybe too) optimistic quest to save Eurydice from the Underworld.
Meanwhile, Madeline Charlemagne, who has been portraying a Fate since Hadestown premiered in the West End, is stepping into the role of Eurydice. Following Grace Young’s riveting performance, Madeline’s portrayal of the jaded and vulnerable Eurydice will capture your attention. In lieu of Charlemagne, one of the three Fates will be Francessca Daniella-Baker (My Fair Lady).
The dynamics of Hadestown will change with this new cast but the onstage chemistry in the roles of Orpheus and Eurydice has been a constant. Likewise, audiences will see Hades and Persephone engage in a ferocious struggle.
Hadestown is a new take on a classic tale, a love story about the voyage to Hades' underworld. The music composed by Anais Mitchell is eerily beautiful to reflect this. The Tony-winning musical reimagines the Greek epic through the lens of two love stories. Written by Mitchell, Hadestown is captivating: “It’s a love story, but politics really is romantic.”
Now is the ideal moment to see this legendary musical recreated with fresh faces, whether you're a die-hard fan or have never seen Hadestown before. The underworld has never looked better, thanks to the recent casting changes—so get your tickets now and get ready to be enchanted by Hadestown!
