Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and their adorable pup Toto are all set to embark once more on their unforgettable journey to the magical Land of Oz as the beloved classic clicks and twirls its way back onto West End this August with a brand new cast.
The Wizard of Oz is a unique coming-of-age story that follows a young farm girl on a magical journey back home. While the tale itself features a literal "home," what makes this story so special is that "home" ultimately points to the friends we make along the way. For young Dorothy Gale, the journey is one of self-discovery, and she invites us to find ourselves along with her.
Despite being told so many times over, The Wizard of Oz never goes out of style. And this iteration of director Nikolai Foster’s take on the musical, is sure to be a hit, just like its predecessors, seeing as it has assembled quite the cast and crew for its upcoming shows.
Aviva Tulley (The Book of Mormon) will be stepping into Dorothy's ruby slippers, while the legendary Wicked Witch of the West will be played by the equally iconic Vivienne, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. Joining them is Aston Merrygold as the Tin Man, Benjamin Yates as the Scarecrow, and Nic Greenshields as the Cowardly Lion. Last, but certainly not least, is Dorothy's adorable furry friend Toto, who will be played by Abigail Matthews.
Foster's The Wizard of Oz has already received stellar reviews for its run at the London Palladium on West End. Audiences will get to see the latest lineup take on the classic when it plays at the Gillian Lynne Theatre from August 15 to September 8, 2024.
