Located at the Strand, the current Savoy Theatre is the reconstruction of an earlier version of the theatre, located on the grounds of Savoy Palace. When it opened, the theatre became popular for being the first public building in the world to be wholly lit by electricity. Dating back to 1881, the theatre is one of the oldest and is known for its award-winning productions.
