Classic Lerner and Loewe’s musical classic ‘My Fair Lady’ is back at the West End Theatre. This is a revival of the 1956 musical that was adapted from George Bernard Shaw’s ‘Pygmalion’. Directed by Bartlett Sher, a Tony-award winner, the story follows Henry Higgins, a linguistic professor who is determined to turn the Cockney-accented flower seller, Eliza Dolittle, into a high-society lady. This charming classic features several popular songs such as The Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, Wouldn’t It Be Lovely, Get Me to the Church on Time, and more. That’s not all, the English National Orchestra will also bring the beautiful scores by Fredrick Loewe to life on the stage!
My Fair Lady follows the story of Eliza Dolittle who is a young Cockney flower peddler. She accidentally crosses paths with Henry Higgins, a linguistic professor. Henry is determined to prove that he can teach anyone to speak in a sophisticated manner so that they will easily be accepted by the high society people.
A wager is made whether Henry can turn Eliza into a proper lady or not but not all goes as planned. While Eliza does lose her accent and slowly transforms into a ‘proper’ lady, something unexpected happens. But who ends up changing whom? This can only be determined once you watch this epic musical.
