The Smeds and The Smoos was written in 2019 and adapted from the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler by Tall Stories, the production company behind The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom. Toby Mitchell takes on the role of director, with Barney George acting as the set and costume designer, and Peter Harrison as the lighting designer. Jon Faber and Andy Shaw from JollyGoodTunes create the sound design while Yvonne Stone is the puppet designer.

Storyline

The Smeds and The Smoos is a revolutionary new rendition of Romeo and Juliet that follows two aliens of two different races on an interplanetary odyssey! The red Smeds never interact with Smoos, who are blue. Which is why, when a young Smed and Smoo go on to become romantically involved, their families have a hard time welcoming or even accepting their relationship. is perhaps one of the oldest West End theatres, located on Shaftesbury Avenue in the City of Westminster. The theatre opened its doors on December 17th, 1888 and originally specialized in musical productions. Designed by the renowned architect C.J. Phipps for producer Henry Leslie, it has a seating capacity of 915. The light opera Dorothy, whose profits were used to build this theatre, was relocated from its previous site to inaugurate it.
