Why watch Elektra?

  • Catch a punk reimagining of Sophokles' classic Elektra with Brie Larson of Captain Marvel and Lessons in Chemistry fame in the lead role.
  • Directed by Daniel Fish and adapted by the award-winning poet Anne Carson, this production is raw and vicious.
  • In a boundary-crushing West End debut, Brie Larson is haunted by grief and a thirst for revenge. Will survival mean severing bonds of family? The Independent calls it "Haunting, punchily feminist and perverse."
  • This modernized adaptation of Elektra explores universal themes of grief, power, and vengeance, making it as relevant today as it was in Ancient Greece. Grab your ticket for this strictly limited and absolutely unmissable season at the Duke of York Theatre!

Elektra is one of the most powerful and enduring Greek tragedies, telling the story of a daughter consumed by grief and vengeance. 2014 was the last adaptation of the play, where at the Old Vic, Kristin Scott-Thomas played the role of the avenging heroine in Ian Rickson's production of Electra. Not an extraterrestrial warrior but a punk rock rebel, Larson's ancient-but-modern avenger Elektra is a whole new take on the classic. Under the direction of Daniel Fish, who in 2022 reimagined Oklahoma! at the Young Vic, Elektra is lyrical and avant-garde, stripped of its staging and full of wrath. As Clytemnestra, Stockard Channing, theater vetera, shines. The show falls somewhere between theater, performance art, slam poetry, and even a comedy roast. Book your tickets to the most hotly anticipated show in London for the season!
