The duo was commissioned by the artistic director of the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, Sean Holmes, to write their play. Inspired by past shows like The Virgin Monologues, they crafted a uniquely terrifying tale of ghost stories narrated by various characters, helping to revive the genre and bring it back to the main stage.
Dr. Goodman, a Professor of Parapsychology, conducts a lecture on ghost stories, recounting the experiences of three individuals - a night watchman, a teen, and a businessman who awaits the birth of his first child - who claim to have experienced the paranormal. As the professor details each tale, the stage comes alive, a re-enactment playing out what happened. As the lecture progresses, the lines between tale and truth blur, and the professor's role in it all starts to unravel.
