After gaining huge success for their award-winning show, The Lady From the Sea, the Norwegian Ibsen Company is all ready to create a buzz in the town again with a new show! When We Dead Awaken is an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s final work, a well renowned Norwegian Playwright, making it a talk of the town.
When We Dead Awaken is known to be Ibsen’s most confessional piece of work inspired by an analysis of the struggle that takes place between art and life in an artist’s life, which also presented as a big challenge in his own life.
Rubek, a sculptor who was once celebrated but now forgotten by the masses, decides to return to Norway. Oblivious of how his life will unfold after this decision, he sets foot in Norway again along with his wife, Maia, with whom he shared a very estranged relationship. An unexpected encounter takes place between him and his long-lost lover, Irene. What will happen next? Will they allow themselves to get immersed in the rekindled love or take a step back from awakening the dead love?
The theme of the show puts a strong emphasis on the resurrection of love, artistic expressions, and the acceptance that comes from the idea of death.
